The lenticular filter module (also commonly referred to as “cartridge”) format was invented by Alsop Engineering in the 1940s. Today, ErtelAlsop continuously improves upon this innovation. With its totally enclosed design, it is the perfect alternative to the plate and frame filter press. Since Pak lenticular Filter modules (cartridges) are comprised of the same filter media used in plate and frame filtration, existing process specifications can easily be translated from plate and frame to lenticular filter cartridge format. This provides a totally enclosed, operator friendly depth filtration system. The Pak lenticular cartridge design also allows for quick change out times, so down time is minimal as compared to other means of filtration.
Filter Housings are available in vertical or horizontal mountings, and for industrial use or fine filtration. Our Filter Housings are 12″ or 16″ in diameter, and include designs for flat gasket or double-O-ring cartridges.
In applications throughout the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, food & beverage and electric utility industries, ErtelAlsop can provide the best Pak lenticular filter housings to suit your needs.
For industrial applications, we offer a top loading design, in which filter housings can be loaded and reloaded with lenticular module Paks by a single operator. The sanitary design, is equipped with a domed cylinder, which is easily removed and can be offered in sections to eliminate the need for an overhead hoist.
Where Are Lenticular Filters Utilized?
The ErtelAlsop domed filter housing, the Double O-Ring Pak System consists of our highly polished stainless steel Domed Filter Housing used in conjunction with our Zeta-Pak double o-ring lenticular filter module (cartridge).
Our simple quarter-turn lock, and static core structure of the ErtelAlsop filter element eliminates the concerns of misalignment or sealing between flat gasket cartridge style systems.
The typical housing can hold up to four 12-inch or 16-inch diameter Pak lenticular filter module cartridges in a vertical configuration.

The Sanitary Pharmaceutical filter housing helps ensure the integrity of your pharmaceutical or biotech application by providing a highly polished filter housing with sanitary fittings, vent connection and no internal threads. This model is provided in 316L stainless steel as standard and allows for easy cleaning after complete disassembly.
The typical housing can hold up to four 12-inch or 16-inch diameter Pak lenticular filter module cartridges in a vertical configuration. For additional integrity assurance, ErtelAlsop Bio-Pak Double O-Ring cartridges should be used within this housing.
The Bio-Pak® is designed with no stainless steel parts. The center core is made of polypropylene and instead of flat gasket end caps, Double O-Ring plug-in style connectors are provided. This superior model provides the following advantages over the stainless steel strapped, flat gasket design:
ErtelAlsop’s standard industrial filter housing used with the grade Zeta-Pak® , is designed for everyday use in chemical applications where the high polish of the pharmaceutical grade housing is not required. The filter is available in Carbon Steel, 304, 316, or 316L Stainless Steel, Polypropylene or Fiberglass Reinforced Polypropylene.
Flow rates of up to 375 liters per minute per housing are feasible and housings can be mounted in series or parallel on a single framework to allow for higher flow rates and/or throughput.
The filters are available with the standard gasketed head and external tightening handle or in our flanged head with internal tightening handle design with the option for ASME code.

The horizontal orientation allows for single person operation, and eliminates the need for overhead hoists.
The unique ErtelAlsop “Lock and Load” System allows easy loading and unloading of Pak lenticular filter module cartridges with the assistance of Teflon guides. The housing can be provided as a single unit or as a dual, tri or quad system on a baseplate, complete with common piping. In addition, the horizontal design can be provided in various materials of construction and to ASME code.
The enclosed design and horizontal orientation make this unit cost effective for most applications. It provides minimal product loss along with reduced labor requirements.
ErtelAlsop’s Horizontal Pak filter housing is the perfect technology to replace old leaky plate and frame filters in liquid processes. All ErtelAlsop lenticular Pak filter cartridges are suitable for use in the horizontal housing.
