Cannaskid™ 4 Stage Lenticular Filtration System

The ErtelAlsop Cannaskid™ was designed with the ethanol extractor in mind. Our four-stage filtration skid is C1D1 compliant, and can handle cryogenic or room temperature extractions.  Powered by a positive displacement gear pump for optimal flow of 1-15 gpm, each filter stage within the assembly plays an important role in processing your miscella/crude oil prior to evaporation. Take your extract from muddy green to beautiful amber in just four easy steps with the ErtelAlsop 4 Stage Lenticular Cannaskid™.

Stage 1 - Pre-FiltrationStage 2 - Clarification and DewaxingStage 3 - DecolorizationStage 4 - Final Trap Filtration

After extraction and/or winterization, the first stage is pre-filtration to remove any biomass and solid particulate that comes out of the extractor. This stage will also begin to catch any larger lipids found in solution, but the main goal of pre-filtration is to protect Stage 2, the lenticular filters, for optimal throughput and clarification.

The workhorse of the ErtelAlsop CannSkid is Stage 2, one or more 12-inch or 16-inch lenticular filter  module(s)/cartridge(s) with domed housing enclosure. This step clarifies and polishes the solution by removing fats, waxes, and haze-causing lipids that are inherently present in the miscella. With 18 square feet of filtration area per 12-inch cartridge, the tortuous depth filtration path created by ErtelAlsop MicroMedia:DE Series lenticular filter cartridges mechanically captures all particles 1 micron and greater. Additionally the Zeta potential of MicroMedia depth filter media captures haze-causing nanoparticles found in oils to produce a bright and clean solution which is ready for Stage 3, decolorization.

The third stage of the Cannaskid™ is for decolorization and removal of chlorophyll from the extract. This stage consists of a second lenticular filter cartridge – either 12-inch or 16-inch, with a domed lenticular housing enclosure. This lenticular filter cartridge uses filter media with activated carbon ErtelAlsop MicroClear:Activated Carbon Series  incorporates a high efficiency pharmaceutical grade organic carbon which quickly became our first choice. While ErtelAlsop offers other food grade carbons, our “C” grade carbon generates greater throughput and color remediation than any other carbon on the market, which has been proven time and again in our customers’ applications.

The final stage in the filter skid is all about protecting your evaporator. A multi-round housing which holds three (3) high surface area filter cartridges, is designed to capture any residual carbon and filter aids. Don’t take the risk of fouling your evaporator or having any leftover filter aids in your oil. The fourth stage gives your crude solution a final polish and protects all tanks and equipment following filtration.
